American super girl group G.R.L will headline an inaugural fundraising event in Sydney on Saturday May 2nd to put the spotlight on Australia’s spiralling youth suicide rate.
It Gets Better Live is the brainchild of It Gets Better Australia which campaigns to show young lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) Australians the levels of happiness, potential and positivity they can achieve if they can just get through their teenage years.
The statistics surrounding suicide and LGBT Australians are chilling with the average age of a first suicide attempt is 16 years and same-sex attracted youth considered six times more likely to attempt suicide than the population as a whole. The tragedy of youth suicide sadly strikes a chord with the members of G.R.L whose fellow performer Simone Battle took her own life in September 2014.
Catch the girls from G.R.L, Paulini, Anja Nissen (Winner of The Voice Australia Season 3) and Matthew Garwood – United for a Cause – at ARQ Sydney on Saturday 2 May 2015. Early Bird Tickets start at $20 with limited Meet and Greet Tickets available. THIS IS A STRICTLY 18+ EVENT
